CARERS CALL-OUT
Are you an un-paid carer?
I am a theatre director and writer, and I am creating a new theatre show which delves into the lives and stories of informal carers.
The project will use real stories to shine light on the incredible journeys, challenges and triumphs of those who dedicate themselves to caring for a loved one.
Perhaps you care for an elderly relative, a spouse, a sibling, a friend, or a child with additional needs? If so, I would love to hear your story. Your experiences are invaluable, and by sharing them, you can help create a powerful, authentic portrayal of what it means to be a carer.
If you are willing to share, I will sit and hear about your life as a carer. Your story will be recorded, but you can choose to remain anonymous.
This project is part of a PhD at The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts at Edith Cowen University. The research not only focuses on storytelling but explores how movement and verbal text can work together to bring these experiences to life.
Every voice and every story matters. And I would love to hear yours.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?
Participants volunteering on this project would contribute their lived experience to the script being developed for this research.
This includes:
· A one-hour interview where they will be asked questions about their lived experience as a carer, or as a member of the community surrounding informal carers.
· Their interview will be recorded (audio and video) and transcribed.
· The interview would occur at a time and place most convenient for them, including online if preferable.
· The text will be collected with other interview transcriptions and shaped into the performance script for the work.
Participation in this research project is entirely voluntary. No one is obligated to take part, and if they decide to take part and later change their mind, they are free to withdraw. Once an interview has taken place, they can withdraw their contribution and transcription anytime until 48 hours prior to rehearsals beginning for the performance.
